Join this eight week stand-up comedy workshop run by Hurstville Hysterical Society, to hone your skills and perform live on stage!
Laugh School is a welcoming place where anybody can learn how to write and perform their own stand up comedy material in a fun and supportive environment. We offer small classes led by professional instructors at a convenient location, just a short walk from Hurstville Station.
Led by John Knowles and Sean Morahan, two of Sydney’s best comedy teachers, Laugh School offers a wholistic approach to performing comedy. You will develop a variety of skills including crafting jokes and building routines, improvised comedy, discovering your onstage persona, microphone technique and audience interaction.
The course includes 'writer's room' style exercises where students riff off each other and everybody contributes to improving each other's routines. This is the best way to learn comedy.
Upon completing your level 1 training at Laugh School, you'll get to perform your set in front of a supportive audience of friends and family in the cosy Civic Theatre. Participants eager to continue on with their stand up comedy journey can choose to take a level 2 course and audition for a spot at one of the open mic nights run by Sean and John.
If you feel you have some funny things to say, let us help you develop your comedic skills so you can deliver your jokes with confidence.
